Enrolment Procedure
This procedure outlines the process for student enrolments at St Mary Star of the Sea College. Catholic schools exist to further the mission of the Church. In Western Australia, The Mandate of the Bishops requires the Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia to make Catholic School education available to all Catholic children, in so far as is possible.

This procedure outlines the process for managing student behaviour at Saint Mary Star of the Sea College. It reinforces the expectations defined in the Saint Mary Star of the Sea College Code of Conduct and school values; Respect, Responsible and Resilient.

Extreme Weather Procedure
It is acknowledged that Carnarvon is frequently exposed to very hot conditions and occasional cyclonic conditions, and that the majority of St Mary Star of the Sea College community members are acclimatised, resilient and tolerant of these conditions. These procedures ensure the health and safety of all children and staT when the weather conditions are extreme and provide alternative activities for children when weather conditions are extreme.

Handling of Disputes & Complaints
Catholic schools can serve as models for all within Western Australia who seek to create genuine communities. Such communities are always founded upon shared commitment to the common good (Mandate, 6). On occasions there may be a disagreement with a decision and a dispute or complaint may arise within a Catholic school. The interactions and protocols of Catholic schools emphasise the sacredness of human life and the dignity of the individual. Catholic Education is committed to ensuring that disputes and complaints are dealt with fairly, objectively and in a timely manner, and with processes which reflect the principles of participation, co-responsibility and subsidiarity.

Mobile Phone Guidelines
These guidelines apply to all students from Kindergarten to Year 12. For the purpose of this policy, ‘mobile phones’ include but are not limited to smart watches, electronic communication devices and associated listening accessories such as headphones, AirPods, earbuds, iPods, MP3/4 players and portable gaming consoles.

Parent Concern Guidelines
To provide a clear, respectful, and supportive framework for addressing and resolving parent concerns in a timely and constructive manner, fostering positive communication and collaboration between families and the school community.

Uniform Guidelines
The school uniform identifies the individual as belonging to the whole. It should be worn neatly and correctly and with pride. All items of clothing must be clearly marked with the student’s name.
